About the speaker:

Alejo is Chief Investment Officer (CIO) Emerging Markets Americas at UBS, based in New York. Alejo leads a team of emerging market analysts dedicated to developing investment ideas in these countries and helping to define the positioning of investment portfolios valued in billions of dollars.

Alejo is a member of the steering committee of CIO Americas, and of the steering committee for Latin America of UBS. Alejo is also a member of the advisory council for the Latin American studies program of the Wilson Center, the prominent think tank based in Washington, DC.

Alejo frequently contributes to columns in the Financial Times, Bloomberg, Reuters, Wall Street Journal, among others.

Alejo obtained a Ph.D. in economics from Columbia University in New York City. He also graduated from programs in economics and finance from Tilburg University in the Netherlands and CEMA University in Argentina.

Alejo is visiting professor of an emerging markets course at Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs. Alejo also taught courses at Columbia Business School, Columbia College, and CEMA University.
